Comin’ back tae the Lunar Festival.

So, as thon lassie pointed oot - the Lunar Festival ain’t all aboot dancin’ and getting yersel’ drunk. It’s aboot makin’ sure yer ancestors ken ye still remember them!

Or, in other words, rep grind!

The minute I knew there was a big cat mount in WoW I wanted it. Call me a boring sheep, whatever, I like big cats and I was for having one. I looked up how to get Darnassus rep at the time and decided the PvP route wasn’t likely (this was before the honour system changes) since I didnt pvp very much and sucked at it besides. I set out to do all of the quests I could that gave Darnassus rep but I’d gotten past the level where diminishing returns meant no rep for low level quests (again, this has since changed). I left WoW for a bit without, sadly, having ever reached that particular goal.

When I came back I had gained a bit more of an interest in PvP and quickly got myself one of the kitties-for-honour (welfare kitty?) - however I don’t like those nearly as much as the Darnassus ones (and, hey, it’s a matter of principle for me to finish now that I’ve started!). With the new diminishing returns meaning I could still get honour for the really low level quests I went back and did all of the starting ones; I put all of the runecloth I got from levelling through Hellfire / Zangarmarsh into Darnassus rep too and any morrowgrain I could make.

Up until yesterday I was sitting at

Darnassus Rep Two

(Ok, so I was actually this -225 as I forgot to take a SS until after I’d done three elder hand-ins…)
and by the end of the day I had gotten to

Darnassus Rep

Now I know from past experience that I can grind about 6-8 stacks of runecloth an hour - it would take 50 stacks of runecloth to do the same which is around 7+ hours or so. It took me around 6 hours to do the Elders quests. Not much of a big time-save you think? Well, not only was running over the world in search of Elders a lot less boring than standing, farming in Tyr’s Hand or suchlike but I also got to go poke at some other things. I hit up any boss I happened to pass by and got myself quite a pile of blues to vendor (probably about 10-15 golds worth) as well as picking up a Piccolo of the Flaming Fire and a few BoE blues from the Arena in Dire Maul (which I’d never tried before - Aurik got splatted but I parked him and brought Avarix who downed Skarr with no problems!). I also picked up the flight paths at The Rebel Camp and Emerald Sanctuary - having levelled way past those by the time TBC was out I hadn’t gotten them. Always handy for when a guildie asks for help killing something. I also picked up a Bouquet of Red Roses whilst I was at Dire Maul - so the fun of rose petals never ends! Hehehe..
I didn’t quite max out my reputation (as you can see above) but it should take only another 38 hand-ins to do the job. I’ll probably get those as Dryn levels so yay! (Hopefully by that time I can actually afford to buy the mount…)Is it sad that the faction I have least reputation with is Ironforge?

If you want any city faction rep I reccomend doing the rounds of the Elders (guide at the bottom of this page). All of it can be done without stealth/having to kill mobs except LBRS and Sunken Temple both of which have unavoidable groups to get to the elders - the ST ones are easy to kill but the LBRS ones might be a pain as there are a lot of other groups nearby.Thunderbluff can also be a pain as you’re dismounted when you go into any of the buildings which lead to the bridges. I was expecting this so saved my sprint - might have been easier if I hadn’t been lazy and decided to walk in the front entrance instead of the back entrance.

Happy Rep Hunting!
