“Oh wad some power the giftie gie us…
To see oursel’s as others see us! It wad frae monie a blunder free us, And foolish notion”
-Robert Burns

Yes, I’m poetry-ing at you! The above quote kind of sums up how I felt when I recently popped back over to my old druid for some quiet time and because I was missing the high-level druiding. I was shocked. Now, I know when I started wow that I was an utter newbie and did some things that it would embarrass me to even think of now but I hadn’t realised how much I’d changed even in the last half-year. I’m looking now at my druid through the eyes of a different ‘person’ and what a shock.
Mharai is ok-geared given that I stopped playing her just after starting Kara level stuff - with a full clefthoof set, stylish purple hat and some bits and pieces from various dungeons. I enjoyed tanking on her and had people invite me back frequently to groups who said I was a good tank but, looking on it, I wonder how much better I could have been.

I was born into the knowledge that, unlike those before me, time would hold sway with me and my life would mimic those of the other creatures around me. It would be finite, short, perhaps even bloody. With this in mind I dedicate myself to the wilds, to the world, to life whilst I have it.
It’s the only class I’ve rolled which I can say I’ve been tempted to roll again. I love druiding, despite my current main being a rogue. This really shouldn’t come as a huge surprise if you’ve been read some of my other posts as I mention my old hordie druid, Mharai, quite a bit. I am a one server guy, however - I like to concentrate all of my effort on one place and this means that I don’t really have time for my old druid any more. I’ve been tempted, time and again, to roll a new druid but I’ve stopped myself for one reason or another.
One of the biggest issues, I guess, is that I’m not so fond of Night Elves as druids… I know that might seem really odd but I am rather fond of Tauren and some Night Elven druid are just completely stuck-up gits. They’re also far too pretty *grumble*.
Anyway. Softi decided to drop by Bloodhoof one night and start a baby-hunter. I had a paladin which I’d started but wasn’t getting into so I thought ‘buggrit - time to start another druid’. So I did - and I’m loving it all over again. Damnit. Altitis strikes again!
So, like a certain Mr. Shag, I’m also welcoming a new female, Night Elf druid into my blog ‘team’. As if the world needed more of those… *ahem* Say hello to Jhai.
On a happily related note, as vaguely mentioned above, I’ve been playing my druid with Softi and Leafy who’ve rolled alts on Bloodhoof EU. I have to admit I’ve been naughty, though, and done more levelling than I should have but… cat form was being dangled right in front of me! How could I not go for it?

Quite late in posting these in my own time zone (skirting this side of Sunday by just under an hour). They’re not, perhaps, the most exciting of screenshots but when I flew over these I just had to take some pictures of the sky, the trees and, of course, the horde village Stonebreaker Hold nestled away between them.

Ok, so I did a post about which ones I loved so now it’s the ones I dislike. I don’t usually like doing ‘negative’ posts but most have reasons beyond ‘just didn’t like’ or are odd choices, at first glance, given what I do like.
I’m not going to give an order to these as I dislike them all for differing reasons and some I only even dislike on certain characters. Here, then are the instances which I usually avoid!

Thon Draenei was buggin’ me and tellin’ me ah should write some funny-lookin’ poetry. Now, ah huvnae seen anythin’ like it before but my shaman pal Avarix assures me that it’s a well known ‘art form’ where he’s fae and he helped me tae write some while daen’ a few hisself.

Do ye remember thon’ we hunter? Aye the Night Elf lad. Well, dae y’ken he’s in Outlands now? I know, who’d have thought! Seem’s hes doin’ well for himself, too.
Every time I update anything about Dryn he seems to have leapt a great deal forward - He’s now level 65 and has been out getting himself a new pet:

Darnassus Finally Conquered!
Well, them elfs has been tryin’ tae keep me away fae their big kitties fer a while now but they realised that I’d do just aboot anythin’ to get my hands on one and finally decided to gie me one o’ the ones that woulda been too small fer a long-legged over-tall elf anyway!
Ding Exalted - Darnassus!
It’s been a long time coming, for me. I mentioned somewhere before that I was getting close to exalted but not-quite-there. Well, now I got off my rear end and got around to mailing all the runecloth from my various alts over to Aurik and handing them in.
Dryn, my up-and-coming hunter, had made me a tidy stash of runecloth and I only had to buy 13 pieces to complete my rep grind! For the first time ever I sold a mount (pvp-kitty) and then went to buy myself the [Reins of the Swift Mistsaber]. Why all that bother for such a tiny change? No idea, but it makes me happy.

Sunday Screenies - Bright Idea
A picture is worth a thousand words, ma ol’ granny used tae tell me. Well, ah’ve always taken mah [Super Snapper FX] around wi’ me and take a snapshot every time an opperchancity presents itsel’.
I keep finding myself with screenshots which I want to post just because I like them. They may have a small story, didn’t make the ‘cut’ for a ‘proper’ post or are completely random but I figured I wanted a way to put them on here which would be a little more organised than just sticking them up any old time with some random blurb. Basically, it’s my ‘excuse’ for spamming you with random, inconsequential screenshots which I happen to like. It also prods me into actually having at least a little more in the way of predictable posts since I’m not quite as prolific in my blogging as some others.
So, /hug has gained a cheesy weekly screenshots thing. Let’s see how long this will last!
The ‘Bright Idea‘ of the title is for todays very first picture - the first and one I’ve had lying around for a little while and which made me smile when I took it. Anyone familiar with old-style cartoons will know why this amused me so…
Yay for Outland’s numerous floating nodes. Hehe.

When yer adventurin’ y’need the right gear for the job an’ some stuff is just a lot better fer a particular job than others. Sometimes somethin’ comes along, though, that ye never thought ye’d get…
This post will be full of gleeful roguishness - other classes might want to flee before I start spouting stuff about all those dreadfully boring things that raiding rogues talk about.
Are they gone? Good!
A simple happy thing made me cheer yesterday. I got my t4 chest! Not the biggest or most monumental of rogueish things but, my fellow stealthy, stabby, stalkers you can maybe understand my glee when I tell you that I will now no longer have to do what I had dreaded - break my tier four, two piece bonus. Happy as a pig in muck am I !
I suppose I should add here that, up until now, luck has had it that I only grabbed myself two pieces of tier four before being catapulted into tier five / tier six content - shoulders and gloves.
This terrible, doom-bringing decision had been looming over me for the past two weeks since the guild downed Az’galor - try for tier six gloves and break the bonus or stay with that delicious bonus and hope to get an upgrade elsewhere? I had resigned myself to the fact that if I did get the gloves I would break the set - it was a big enough dps upgrade to be worth it and I badly need to catch up gear-wise to the rest of the rogues.
Currently, then, with my shiny new chestpiece (which replaced the s1 chest - blech), I have the choice of swapping in something to either the glove or shoulder slot. My inventory, happily, holds a pair of [Shoulderpads of the Silvermoon Retainer] which are a pretty nice upgrade to the [Netherblade Shoulders]. Of course, some juggling may occur if I do manage to grab the tier six gloves (I’m up against some stiff competition from the mages…) but, until that time, I can rest happy in the knowledge that my 1s/5r is safe for a little while longer yet!
/cheer
1 commentInstancin’ - Good yins!
Ah wis sittin’ the other day, in the Stonefire Tavern, havin’ a pint and reminiscin’ aboot all mah adventurin’. So, ahm sittin’ there an’ talkin’ away when Firebrew’s lassie, Gwenna, asks me whit wis mah favourite place that ah’d been adventurin’ tae? Well, that goat me thinkin…
Post idea stolen from Larísa, go check out her take on it here.
I had intended do do a few more ‘lite’ posts but unfortunately real life has sort of hit me with a bag of brick in the last week so I’ve not been able to sit down and think about anything for very long. Things are slowly returning to normal, though, and I figured I’d sit down and do this post - a reminiscing one which I’ve been meaning to do for a while.
